The Pre-fabricated Route to Data Centre Success

The volume of data being shared or stored is only set to increase further, as the 5G infrastructure opens new opportunities for enterprises and institutions offering critical services to customers and the public. As a result, data centres have started to emerged from the shadows and are now in the spotlight. This is largely due to sectors ranging from telecom to healthcare, banking and insurance, manufacturing industries and the military, facing growing pressure to deliver a superior user experience that marries unprecedented speed with capacity, reliability and data security. But the question is whether the construction of traditional data centres can keep pace with how quickly the 5G-based digital economy needs them.
The answer to that challenge has been resolved with modern, prefabricated data centres. Today, they combine speed of assembly with convenience, flexibility, scalability and – most importantly of all – sustainability, in order to ensure there are sufficient data centre resources for today and the future.  
A driving force behind the prefabricated data centre revolution, is Eltek/Delta TPS. Our prefabricated data centre story starts in Zagreb, where three of our team - Ivan Nedic, Branimir Brkljacic, and Drazen Dukic – united to recruit a specialist team of experienced experts capable of creating a new way of building and constructing data centres that better met with the evolving needs of the market.
Thanks to the team’s knowledge, patience, hard work and the investments it made, over time it was able to build critical mass along with the required expertise and services required to present a credible and relevant product range. In doing so, they also established influential contacts, while the suitability of our offering become increasingly visible to the market. Their efforts have paid off with the Delta Xubus Node solutions, which have been developed with support for 5G in mind. With the Xubus Node, we offer turnkey data centres available in five different IT load configurations from 18 to 90kW. It is an all integrated, plug-and-play solution for rapid deployment with excellent reliability and flexibility and it’s ready to deliver on the promise of 5G. Perhaps more excitingly, three years on from the team’s initial meeting, we have made some significant breakthroughs.
First, Xubus has been selected by a multinational fibre–optic provider in the Netherlands to meet the swift expansion of its optical fibre network. Following discussions and open workshops with the customer, we were able to present them with an Xubus tailored to their specific requirements. The rapidly-configured, highly-integrated solution, includes the power supply, energy-saving cooling, integrated ODF and fire protection system as well as various auxiliary systems. It also includes a renewable energy solution with the solar panels mounted on the containers.
Second, in France, our modular data centre solution has been selected by a leading telecom provider for its 5G Edge network expansion. We were able to offer a complete offering that integrates the power supply system (AC&DC), energy-saving cooling, fire protection system and various auxiliary systems.
Finally, we have secured a further order for an Xubus Node. Fully equipped in Tier 3 topology which has been tested by external consultants to confirm the construction and integration are in accordance with Uptime Tier 3 design, the system is now ready to be delivered to a customer in EMEA.
Our success to date has seen the data centre team expand, and we’re continuing our mission of hiring experts in the domain of modular, prefabricated data centres. Naturally, growth is a focus for us as it is absolutely essential to support both the sales process and for following-up many exciting new projects.
The data centre business is promising and attractive. We are now well positioned to secure a solid foothold and continue to grow the business with the energy, focus and hard work that has characterised the effort we have put in to achieve the success we are starting to enjoy now.
