State-of-the-art technology in Ballin House
The roots of Hapag-Lloyd AG stretch far back into the 19th century, when the founding companies – Hamburg-Amerikanische Packetfahrt-Actien-Gesellschaft (Hapag) and North German Lloyd – put their first ships to sea, carrying general cargo and passengers to New York. One hundred and seventy six years later, Hapag-Lloyd has become a global liner shipping company with 250 vessels, an 11.8 million TEU transport volume and around 14,100 employees in more than 401 offices located across 135 countries. The company is headquartered at the icon Ballin House in Hamburg, Germany.
One of Hapag-Lloyd’s goals centres on ‘connecting the world across oceans,’ something it has been doing successfully for more than 175 years. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the company connected people by transporting millions of emigrants to their new homelands. Today, it connects businesses, markets and economies using the latest communication tools and technologies.
When Hapag-Lloyd decided to refurbish the Main Boardroom at Ballin House, it entrusted the provision of a suitable display to trusted provider DATAVISION Deutschland GmbH. DATAVISION very quickly concluded that the new display must be a ‘State of the Art’ device, and provide a visual experience far greater than the previous Cube videowall. Following a consultation with Michael Schmidt, Sales Manager at Delta Display Systems, a 1.2mm HD COB LED screen was proposed. “Our 1.2mm HD COB LED screen is the ideal choice for Boardroom applications.” said Michael Schmidt. He added: “The 110” size is perfect for large, vibrant and impactful imagery and multiscreen conference applications; something that’s needed by any global company.”
Impressive Welcome
In addition to the main boardroom, the lobby of the Ballin House has also been equipped with an LED wall. The 165” FullHD LED COB videowall from Delta Display Systems installed here welcomes visitors with generous visualizations in true-to-life colors and outstanding image quality, or with up-to-date information. This allows guests to be properly welcomed.
An important part of any LED Screen solution is the frame. In this instance the screen frame was designed, manufactured and installed by EHM and was based on the successful cantilever system previously used for LCD videowalls. “This system gives us access to the rear of the screen,” explained Ingo Keuch, Project Manager EHM. “While the Delta COB screen is fully maintainable from the front, having access to the rear allows us to make very small alignment adjustments without removing the COB Lamp Boards. That saves us a lot of time.”
Holger Graeff, Sales Director at Delta Display Systems commented “Having our partners take our products and integrate them into their own systems, is an innovation we actively encourage. It both adds value and shows the flexibility of our solutions.”
