Only two percent of Germany's forest areas are protected. Yet independent studies show that at least five percent would be necessary to ensure sustainable climate and species protection. Scientists have already sounded the alarm, and Delta has heard this wake-up call.
By developing innovative and environmentally friendly products, such as process automation solutions and energy-saving lighting systems, and now through its collaboration with PLANT-MY-TREE®, Delta is actively committed to climate protection and a more sustainable future.
Hundreds of Trees Already Planted – Acting in the Name of Sustainability
Delta's team based in Soest has already planted several hundred trees in a wooded area in Lüdenscheid. Within the next five years, up to 10,000 more seedlings will take root and grow across Germany for at least another 99 years. This will not only make a short-term contribution to the reforestation of German forests but will also set an important foundation for climate protection in the future.
In One Year, One Hectare of Trees Absorbs the CO2 of a 42,000-Kilometer Car Journey!
Trees are true wonders of nature: not only can they absorb considerable amounts of CO2, but they also provide valuable habitats for insects and animals and are important sources of oxygen and natural cooling systems. If trees are strategically planted around buildings, for example, they can reduce cooling requirements in summer by up to 50 percent. In addition, just one tree provides over a ton of oxygen per year – enough for 10 people – and filters a ton of dust, bacteria, and fungal spores from the air.
A Few Minutes to Produce Oxygen for Decades
With its essential contributions and commitment within the company and now also outside the company, through the reforestation of German forests, Delta is strengthening its pioneering role in sustainability and climate protection. "A forest is so much more than just a green area in the landscape. Planting a tree may cost us a few minutes, but we get vital oxygen and clean air for decades," said Dalip Sharma, President & General Manager, Delta Electronics EMEA region.
