Delta EMEA, a leading company in the region, recently concluded its employee-only CSR initiative, known as the 'Charity Fitness Challenges'. Spanning from 19 September to 19 October 2022, this initiative aimed to bring clean and safe water to the families and children of Nampula, Mozambique. Over 140 enthusiastic employees joined this exciting endeavor, demonstrating their commitment to making a positive impact in the world.
Mozambique has long been grappling with severe poverty and a dire water crisis. Shockingly, approximately half of its population lacks access to clean drinking water. For many of us fortunate enough to have easy access to this essential resource, it is almost inconceivable to imagine such a reality. However, for the children and families of Nampula, this is a daily struggle. Recognizing this pressing need, Delta EMEA's marketing team collaborated with the Water for Life foundation to address the water crisis in this region.
The premise of the initiative was simple yet impactful. For every 5 kilometers covered by employees or every 30 minutes spent exercising, Delta EMEA pledged to donate 10 liters of water. Motivated by the desire to help the families in Nampula, our dedicated colleagues did not waver even in the face of cold and wet weather. Their unwavering commitment led to a remarkable achievement. Our colleagues have covered 14.261 kilometers and additionally exercised 113 hours, which means we reached 31.000 liters of water. Delta EMEA decided to round it up and donate 35,000 litres of water to the families and children of Nampula.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the employees who wholeheartedly embraced the Charity Fitness Challenges. Your unwavering dedication, even in the face of unfavorable weather conditions and darkness, has made this initiative an overwhelming success. Each step taken and exercise performed has contributed significantly to improving the quality of life for families in Nampula.
Delta EMEA remains committed to its corporate social responsibility and will continue to spearhead initiatives aimed at making a positive and lasting difference in the communities we serve. Through the Charity Fitness Challenges, we have not only provided clean water to those in need but also fostered a sense of unity and purpose among our employees. Together, we can create a better future for all, one step and one exercise at a time.
